What is a windbreaker?

Winter is over, but sunny days are not always guaranteed! To cope with changing weather conditions during the mid-season and in summer, the windbreaker is a must-have item in your wardrobe. It is a lightweight, breathable, water-repellent jacket that shields you from gusts of wind and bad weather.

Today, the windbreaker is making a great comeback in urban fashion and in outdoor wear. At Pyrenex, we offer you a wide range of windbreakers for men, women and children with different cuts, features and colours to suit your tastes.

The composition of Pyrenex windbreakers

Our Pyrenex windbreakers from the spring-summer 2020 collection are made from 100% polyamide fabric and matt/shiny taffeta. Polyamide is a synthetic material which, by virtue of its weave, has many technical characteristics such as lightness, durability, water repellency and breathability. These qualities make Pyrenex windbreakers very comfortable and practical to wear every day. As for matt/shiny taffeta, it is a very tightly woven fabric with very fine threads that have a shiny or matt appearance. Taffeta modernises the windbreaker by making it more aesthetically pleasing to wear: shiny for an urban style with a vintage touch, matt for a more sporty style.

When should you wear a Pyrenex windbreaker?

For outdoor outings

This year, Pyrenex responds to your desire for adventure and travel with our collection of outdoor windbreakers that adapt perfectly to your outdoor physical activities.

Pyrenex windbreakers limit heat loss and block the wind. Effective thanks to the water-repellent properties of the fabric, these jackets shed water provided the rain is not too heavy. The polyamide material is perfect for wicking away perspiration during sustained physical activity.

Resolutely sporty, this new collection will appeal to many enthusiasts who share the same DNA as Pyrenex: escapism, adventure and travel.

For urban outings

Although the windbreaker has great utility for outdoor activities, it has become a fashion piece that is indispensable to wear during the mid-season and in summer.

With a fitted cut or an oversized cut, entirely lightweight, the windbreaker pairs just as well with skirts, trendy "boyfriend" jeans or slim-fit trousers, and with trainers, ankle boots as well as open-toe shoes. Zipped up or open, single-colour or multicolour, the Pyrenex windbreaker is one of our favourite jackets of the season for men, women and children.

With its streetwear casual style, the Pyrenex windbreaker will find its place in your spring wardrobe.

How do you de-wrinkle a Pyrenex windbreaker?

To de-wrinkle a Pyrenex windbreaker, nothing is simpler than a steam generator or a steam iron (with steam option) to remove unwanted creases; be careful not to touch the fabric with the iron! Indeed, the material of windbreakers (polyamide or polyester) does not need to be de-wrinkled very frequently. The best way to avoid this is to lay the garment out flat or hang it on a hanger immediately after wearing it.

How do you wash and dry a Pyrenex windbreaker?

Windbreakers, exposed to the elements, get dirty easily. To care for your windbreaker, simply follow the care instructions on your jacket's label before washing. It is advisable to machine wash it at 30°C with a gentle detergent, following the recommended dosage. It is recommended not to use fabric softener so as not to damage the water-repellent material of the jacket. Finally, it is preferable to wash your jacket inside out to avoid damaging it. Do not hesitate to run an extra rinse cycle to remove all the detergent. It is also possible to dry-clean your windbreaker on soiled areas. Regarding drying, it is preferable to let it dry naturally, in the open air, and to avoid placing it against a radiator.
