For mid-season, yes; for the depths of winter, no. The John for kids is rated for -5°C to +10°C, the Dorel and the Cheslin for +5°C to +15°C. These are pieces for spring and autumn, or for layering under a coat. In freezing cold weather, a sleeved down jacket rated -20°C to 0°C remains essential.

Are there kids' sleeveless down jackets with a hood?

Yes. The John and Cheslin feature a fixed hood with an adjustable elastic drawstring. The Wolf, designed in collaboration with Bonton, features a removable hood lined with faux sherpa fur. The Dorel, inspired by the adult Spoutnic, comes without a hood. Furthermore, the Cheslin packs away into its own pouch, making it easy to slip into a school bag or travel bag.

Are children's sleeveless down jackets made with real down?

Yes, made with French duck down, with 80% down and 20% feathers. The John, Dorel and Cheslin have a fill power of 600, while the Wolf has a fill power of 650. The John is made from recycled polyamide, while the Dorel is made from 3,000 mm waterproof fabric. All have a straight or regular fit that leaves room for a jumper.
