This raw material, essential in the pursuit of excellence, is a Pyrenean down, harvested from the finest farms in south-west France.

A natural upcycled material in the service of ready-to-wear and bedding
Feather and down are harvested and processed to give them a second life thanks to their exceptionally high insulating power relative to their weight. This natural material, comfortable and of unrivalled longevity, is ideal for retaining warmth and protecting against the cold. Today, no other material can rival natural down — not even synthetic down.
This exceptional upcycled raw material enables Pyrenex to develop two main activities: ready-to-wear with down jackets, and home with bedding items.
The difference between feather and down
- Feather gives springiness and density to the items it fills. Depending on its size, it is referred to as a feather or a small feather.
- Down provides both suppleness and fill power, while playing the indispensable role of an insulator.
The « Legend 1859 » down is the "cream of the crop" of this down, with insulation and lightness performance never before achieved. Down jackets filled with upcycled down
All the down jackets and parkas in our collections (winter and summer alike) are filled with 100% natural French down sourced from the finest farms in south-west France.
Depending on the style, some jackets have more filling than others, which makes it possible to differentiate their uses. As a result, this variation in filling makes it possible to describe the jacket as warm (between -30°C and -10°C), temperate (between -10°C and 5°C) or lightweight (between 5°C and 15°C) in terms of warmth and insulation against the cold. The quilting of the down jacket is also a factor to take into account in terms of insulation and protection against the elements.
Many down jackets and parkas benefit from an exceptional filling of Duvet Legend 1859, the finest down from Pyrenex.
Since 2019, thanks to an innovative process, a Jacket Workshop has opened its doors at the Pyrenex Manufacture in Saint-Sever, making it possible to monitor 100% of the production of a men's and women's down jacket line.
Bedding and home accessories filled with upcycled down
Bedding and home décor items filled with natural upcycled down are developed and crafted 100% at the Pyrenex Manufacture.
In bedding, several indicators must be taken into account to determine the thermal insulation and fill power of the down. These differ from the indicators used for down jackets, which are the filling weight and the type of quilting of the jackets.
- Thermal power (TOG): the capacity to trap air and exchange it rapidly. The high quality of the down, its filling weight in g/m² and the fineness of the cover are the 3 parameters that determine the thermal performance of the duvet.
- Fill power (Filling Power): this refers to the capacity of a given weight of filling to occupy a given volume. The greater the volume occupied, the higher the down's insulation and lightness performance.
