Committed, since day one.

Our history has enabled us to build on strong corporate values and drive our growth while weathering successive crises.

Our values of Trust, Commitment and Solidarity are the foundation that unites our three core businesses of Feather, Clothing and Home. All this gives meaning to our strategic decisions

Our commitment to a more sustainable world

Pyrenex's commitment to the environment is historic and rooted in the very heart of our DNA. From the very beginning of our brand, in 1859, Abel Crabos chose a natural resource - feathers - which was considered a waste product, and turned it into a noble material by adding value to it. Feathers and down are an integral part of the local circular economy. What's more, its environmental footprint is much smaller than that of any synthetic material, giving it first-rate environmental performance.

Pyrenex core know-how : upcycling

Pyrenex's mission is to recycle and add value to feathers, a by-product of the local agricultural sector that some consider to be waste, and turn it into a noble material. This raw material, essential in our quest for excellence, is down from the Pyrenees, harvested from the finest farms in south-west France. In this way, we encourage local employment and the development of various regional skills, including those of our French designers and workers, thereby promoting a circular economy.

Pyrenex natural down filling :

A by-product of local farming in south-west France.

A ‘waste product’ - feathers and down - transformed into a noble material that is essential for the thermal insulation properties of our products.

A natural, biodegradable filling that has 10 times less environmental impact than synthetic fillings (often derived from petrochemicals).

More than 1000 tonnes of feathers ennobled every year.

A commitent to increase the proportion of responsible materials

The selection of raw materials and other fabrics plays a crucial role in reducing the impact of our products. That's why we've put in place an ambitious plan to increase the proportion of eco-responsible materials in our collections.

  • Organic cotton on all Pyrenex knitwear.
  • 100% recycled fabric in our windbreaker ranges.
  • Down jackets made from 100% recycled materials.
  • Increasing sourcing of 100% Made in France fabrics.
  • End of PFASs: scientific work on certain known PFASs shows that they can have deleterious effects on humans and the environment. Known for their stability, they are eternal pollutants. For the future, Pyrenex has chosen to do without these treatments, using only C0 from the 2025 winter season. A strong commitment that anticipates changes in global regulations to protect you as best as possible.

Produce more through short distribution channels :

95% of our bedding range and 100% of our duvets are produced on site in Saint-Sever, Landes. With this in mind, our teams are committed to a continuous supply of French and European components.

90% of raw feather supplies come from France (South-West and Vendée).

Pyrenex continues to expand its on-site down jacket manufacturing workshops (Saint-Sever range) year on year. Currently, over 75% of our down jacket production is carried out in Europe and the Euromed zone (Tunisia, Bulgaria, Portugal and France).

Eco-design :

On the strength of our complete control over the design of our products, we are continuing our efforts in eco-design in order to demonstrate the impact of our choices: in the location of our manufacturing, the durability of our products, and the choice of less impactful components. Consuming less and better.

For example, since 2018, we have reduced the climate impact of some of our iconic products by 70%, in particular by choosing to stop using fur in our collections.

Respect for animal welfare

There is a lot of ignorance and myth surrounding the production of our natural down.

Our commitment to traceability, animal welfare and environmental protection is at the heart of our approach.

As such, Pyrenex does not breed any animals; we use materials from the French agricultural sector. By choosing to work with local suppliers, we can ensure a high level of standards in terms of animal welfare, rearing conditions and strict compliance with current French standards.

No duck or goose is plucked alive in the course of harvesting our down and none is reared for the sole purpose of recovering its down.

Pyrenex has the DOWNPASS label : this label guarantees that our feathers and down comply with ethical, quality and traceability criteria. This label is based in particular on the standards of the European Convention for the Protection of Animals kept for Farming Purposes.

An end to the use of animal fur

Since the winter 23/24 collection, Pyrenex has chosen to stop using animal fur. This is not only a move to respect animal welfare, but also a more sustainable environmental approach to the impact of our products. In fact, this decision to stop using fur, combined with our sourcing efforts, has enabled us to reduce the climatic impact of a classic down jacket by around 70% (evaluated in kg of CO2 equivalent).

What's more, this decision to stop using fur is total: we refuse to use synthetic fur, which is even more harmful to the planet.
