How to choose a Pyrenex pillow?

We know that a good pillow is essential for a good night's sleep.  For many of us, buying a pillow is always a complicated step. Ultra soft, soft, firm or ergonomic, we all have our own preferences and sleeping habits.

The perfect pillow will maintain the optimal alignment of the spine, neck and head.  Pillows are designed to hold the head at night, allowing a good blood circulation, relaxing muscles and maintaining a natural posture.

Therefore, at Pyrenex, we offer a wide range of pillows and bolsters made in France, which are produced in our manufacturing plant in Saint-Sever (France), to best meet your comfort and sleep needs.

Advantages of Pyrenex pillows

Comfortable reception thanks to the natural filling

The natural fillings of Pyrenex pillows (French goose and duck feathers and down) are made of a mixture of curved downy feathers and down. Depending on the model, Pyrenex offers different proportions of down and feathers (various compositions) and different densities, therefore offering different variations of comfort and choice for the sleeper.

Natural filling adds an extraordinary feeling lightness and comfort. The materials, fabrics and fibres used to wrap our pillows adds extra softness and breathability.

Homogeneous support thanks to the natural filling

Regardless of the percentage of feathers and down, one of the intrinsic qualities of Pyrenex natural fillings is their ability to disperse in the pillow to take the shape of the sleeper's head and neck, providing well-distributed support without pressure points. This is a fundamental property that distinguishes them from most other synthetic or natural fillings.

Springy vs Soft

The feathers give an elastic feeling, while the down provides a soft welcome.

- From 100% feathers to 30% down / 70% feathers: the majority of feathers offer a full, springy and firm welcome.

- 50% down / 50% feathers: good balance between softness and springiness.

- From 70% down: the pillow's reception is resolutely soft.

- Between 90% and 100% down: fluffiness and softness reach exceptional levels.

The density of the pillow determines its support

The denser a pillow is (i.e. the higher the filling weight), the firmer it will be.

- Lowest density: the pillow is flat and offers little support.

- Medium density: the pillow is bulky and offers soft support.

- High density: the pillow is very bulky and provides firm support.

Allergic to dust mites?

Certain models of Pyrenex pillows have a 100% natural Greenfirst anti-dust mite treatment.

To sum up, the welcome and support of Pyrenex pillows are two parameters to consider for a good sleeping night.

Pyrenex pillow or bolster, which one(s) to choose?

Pillows and bolsters are two very distinct items of bedding equipment, although their use is similar. Depending on each person's sleeping habits and preferences, it is possible to sleep with a pillow, a bolster or even both for better body posture. Usually this does not happen because pillows can be used as individual supports and bolsters can be used as shared supports.

The bolster is often used as a bed accessory, although it may be the first choice for sleeping. The support is most useful when you are eating breakfast in bed, watching TV or reading a book. Pillows are important items for your sleep, and choosing the right pillows is a very personal thing which depends on your sleeping habits and preferences.

At Pyrenex, we provide pillows and bolsters to meet everyone's expectations. The natural French duck down and feather filling provides comfort and support for deep and peaceful nights.

How to choose a Pyrenex pillow?

When you sleep on your side, back or belly, which pillow should you choose?

In order to sleep in the best possible conditions, while making sure that your back, shoulders and neck are in the best position, here are a few tips on how to choose a Pyrenex pillow :

- If you sleep more on your back or on your side: you will need a good support, i.e. a bulky, well-filled model with soft or firm support.

- For people with wide shoulders sleeping on their side: it is recommended to use large, sturdy pillows to maintain the best posture for your head, neck and shoulders throughout the night.

- If you only sleep on your stomach: the best support will be provided by a flat pillow with a low weight.

When you have back, shoulder or neck pain, which pillow should you choose?

- For those with back pain, it is best to sleep on your side and choose a soft or firm pillow.

- If you have shoulder pain, it is recommended that you sleep on your back and choose a soft pillow.

- For those with neck pain, it is recommended to sleep on your back and choose a soft or ergonomic pillow.

Taking care of your Pyrenex pillow

It is recommended that you shake and pat your Pyrenex pillow regularly to maintain a perfect distribution of down and feathers. In addition, every 2 months or so, it is recommended that you tumble dry your pillow for 30 minutes to preserve the fluffiness of the down.

How to wash your pillow?

Our Pyrenex pillows are washable with a 5kg drum washing machine. Approximately 5 to 6 rinses are necessary to remove the detergent. They can be tumble dried according to the care instructions provided. We recommend using a liquid detergent in accordance with the dosage indicated on the product label.

When should I change my pillow?

Theoretically, you should change your pillow every 2/3 years. However, our Pyrenex pillows can be used for longer periods of time, thanks in particular to the natural filling made from French duck. In addition, changing your pillow depends on the long-term care you take for it.
