As the backdrop to the Pyrenex FW2021 Campaign, the Pic du Midi de Bigorre located in the Hautes-Pyrénées, peaks at 2,877 m above sea level. This iconic landmark of the Pyrenean range is home to a television relay and an astronomical observatory that stands out above a spectacular sea of clouds. The Pic du Midi is a place steeped in history where observations of the sky and the stars have never ceased since the observatory was founded in 1878. An authentic story that echoes that of Pyrenex and the 160 years of the Manufacture.

First built in 1952 and then renovated in the 2000s, the Pic du Midi de Bigorre cable car provides the main access to the astronomical observatory located at the summit. It allows you to climb more than 1,000 m of positive elevation in the space of about fifteen minutes.
This spectacular location opens up before you from East to West across more than 300 km of mountains. The best balcony in the Pyrenees is right here.
A timeless urban collection
The autumn/winter collection 2020-2021 is made up of iconic timeless down jackets and numerous new styles drawing their inspiration from the Pyrenean mountain range. Naturally, this season's colour palette unfolds in shades of mountain ice and eternal snow, without forgetting the tones of autumn foliage. The collection oscillates between shadow and light to give rhythm through the different fabrics and styles. It should be noted that these down jackets and parkas are filled with French feathers and down to provide warmth and lightness in winter, even when weather conditions are cold or extreme.

Big news this winter: the mountain collection
Pyrenex is expanding its heritage and urban offering with a technical capsule dedicated to mountaineering and more broadly to the pleasures of the mountains. The brand returns to its roots by reinterpreting a mountain collection built on the foundation of its partnership of the time with the famous Pyrenean mountaineer Louis Audoubert, technical adviser to the brand from the 1970s onwards.

The mountain capsule from Pyrenex was designed around the temperature ranges required for mountaineering and the technical needs for climbing the highest peaks. Highly performing, Pyrenex down jackets can be worn in extreme conditions down to -30°C such as the Audoubert down jacket (above) and the Chinook XP (below).

This performance is achieved thanks to the double insulation of this jacket: a first layer of insulation against the external cold with an 18 cm baffle fabric and an extremely insulating natural down filling, and a second layer of insulation made possible by a 4 cm baffle fabric lining filled with Pyrenex Legend down.

In addition to the Chinook XP model, the Hudson XP and Meije XP models have been designed in Pertex Quantum Pro fabric to complete the mountaineering range. The fitted cut of these two models allows you to set off on expeditions with complete freedom of movement.

Our athletes take part in the development of our upcoming mountain collections
Throughout the collection development process, our athletes tested the prototypes and products in real conditions, thus confirming the technical excellence and reliability of our down jackets. The photos below show the Chinook XP, Hudson XP and Meije XP models worn by two French mountaineers Lara Amoros and Yann Borgnet during two test trips to Georgia and Chile.
