[message]Pyrenex: Our story
The history of Pyrenex
Pyrenex is the story of a love affair with the feather and its work, handed down from generation to generation, from collection to washing, sorting and finishing. It's also a story of family, of men and women who share the same values: authenticity, well-being and naturalness.
Since 1859, Abel Crabos has been collecting goose and duck feathers from markets and farms in the Landes region around his native village of Saint-Sever.
René Crabos, his son, joins the family business “Abel Crabos & Fils” based in Saint-Sever. René, a rugby champion and captain of the French national rugby team, imbues the company with the values of commitment, trust and solidarity that forge its distinctive character.
Marie Crabos, wife of René, designs and manufactures the first “solidarity” down jackets with a humanitarian aim: to protect the Landais prisoners of war in the village of Saint-Sever from the cold. The down jackets are shipped to Germany via the Red Cross.
André Crabos, son of René, creates the first bedding workshops in the heart of the Saint-Sever factory.
Jean Pierre Crabos, André's brother, joins the family business.
The name evokes the nearby mountain range, the preferred terrain for its products. It was also the year of the first sleeping bags.
Birth of the Authentic Jacket, an iconic product bearing all the DNA and know-how of Pyrenex.
Édouard Crabos, son of Jean-Pierre, takes the reins of Pyrenex and puts the brand back at the heart of the company's strategy. Pyrenex strengthens its position as number 1 on the French bedding market while its ready-to-wear line returns to the forefront with the big comeback of the down jacket on the fashion market.
Notably Alexis Mabille and Alexandre Vauthier.
