A down jacket will keep you warm.

The women's down jacket Pyrenex, just like the men's and children's models, is made 100% from duck feathers and down and behaves like a small sleeping bag you put on to go outside. Thanks to its three-dimensional geometry, duck down guarantees warmth, lightness and comfort in the garment. This essential item of clothing when temperatures drop is made from feathers sourced exclusively from France, from farms where respect for the animal and the environment is central. Certified Oeko-Tex, our down jackets contain no harmful substances and are a guarantee of environmental responsibility.

Caring for your down jacket

In order for the down jacket to retain its thermal properties, it is important to care for it properly. The most important point is that it should not be washed more than once a year if you use it outside of a sporting context. However, if you use the down jacket during hiking or cycling sessions, you can wash it every six months. If you notice a stain, it is better to remove it gently with soap and water than to wash the entire down jacket. When it comes to washing this down garment, you have two options: either you take no risks and entrust your down jacket to the dry cleaner, or you follow the advice below!

The cleaning process for a down jacket

First of all, if the down jacket has any stains, we recommend washing them by hand beforehand before putting the jacket in the machine. The same applies to any stains on the cuffs, pockets or collar.

Next, your down jacket should be washed at a temperature not exceeding 30° on a synthetic cycle if you wish to clean it in the machine. During machine washing, it is essential that the down jacket can keep moving and not be compressed. For this, there is a well-known trick: tennis balls in the drum of the machine. These balls will prevent the down jacket from becoming waterlogged by aerating the down feathers. There are also special washing balls available in shops.

Then comes the machine spin cycle. This should be gentle so as not to damage the down, while hand wringing involves pressing your down jacket in towels. Above all, avoid wringing the down jacket to dry it!

Finally, comes the drying stage, the most important part. Whatever you do, never dry the down jacket on a radiator! You can dry it in the machine or on a drying rack, but you must regularly pat your down jacket to separate all the feathers from one another and redistribute them before they dry and form clumps. Following the feather redistribution step will ensure you restore the loft and warmth of the down jacket.

Very important: never store your garment while it is still damp, as it risks going mouldy.

Here is a summary:

• Machine wash on a synthetic cycle at 30° with tennis balls

• Spin gently in the machine or in towels

• While drying, redistribute the down feathers

• Wait until the down jacket is completely dry before storing it

Storing your down jacket

• When storing a jacket or coat with a flat filling, prefer to store it in a way that avoids any distortion.

• Ideally, hang a down jacket on a hanger inside packaging specially treated with a moth-repellent substance. However, you may also choose another anti-moth treatment if you prefer. Moths are particularly attracted to these products due to the presence of keratin in the fibres.

• Make sure you fasten all buttons and zip up all zips on the garment to preserve its shape. With the same goal in mind, check all pockets for any foreign objects. Before storing, ensure the pockets are empty.

• The optimal storage location is a wardrobe. Avoid using a chest or a box for this purpose. Keep the wardrobe away from heat sources and in a dry environment.
