Bath towels

The bath towel, or bath sheet, is the large item used to dry the whole body. The Pyrenex bath towel measures 90 × 180 cm and weighs 600 g/m². The plain Hana and striped Yumi ranges are available in ecru, white, terracotta, peacock blue and dark blue. Bath towel or bath sheet: the same product Both names refer to the same thing: a towel of around 90 × 180 cm that wraps around the whole body. “Bath sheet” comes from household linen terminology, while “bath towel” is the everyday term. Some brands reserve “bath sheet” for the largest sizes, over 100 × 150 cm, but there is no standard: it is a commercial distinction, not a technical category. The bath towel differs from the hand towel in size. The latter, at 50 × 100 cm, dries you after a shower without wrapping around the body; the bath towel lets you wrap yourself in it, making it a useful extra after-bath cover-up. For a proper after-bath garment, the bathrobe remains more comfortable. 600 g/m²: what it changes in use The Pyrenex bath towel is woven at 600 g/m² in zero-twist yarn. This density creates terry cloth that absorbs a great deal before becoming saturated and retains its fluffiness wash after wash. The drawback to know before buying: a large, dense towel dries slowly. At 90 × 180 cm, the surface area is substantial and the weight is high, so it needs to be hung where air can circulate rather than simply placed on a hook in a closed room. For the gym or travel use, where the towel needs to dry quickly in a bag, a lighter size and weight are more suitable. Sizes and colours The single size is 90 × 180 cm, known as a “maxi bath sheet”. The colours follow the in-house palette: ecru, white, terracotta, peacock blue and dark blue for the plain Hana range; a two-tone striped version for the Yumi range. The whole set coordinates with the rest of the bath linen. Care Wash before first use to remove the finish and activate absorbency. Wash at 40 to 60 °C without fabric softener. Tumble dry at a moderate temperature to revive the loops. Avoid ironing, which flattens the terry cloth texture.
